fencing...

bleh!
Putting up a new stretch of fence, an alley, so the boys have more places to graze.   New t-posts, but recycled mesh.  It's not a 24/7 pasture, but just a daytime grazing area and alley to more grazing, so it doesn't have to be perfect.   The mesh is only like 30" tall, so it's 6" off the ground and will have a barbless twisted wire strand at the top too.  The mesh is rough, but should do the trick, and it was "free", something Shayne rolled up in our wheat field from previous owner.

I'll try to get a couple once I finish, I rode to town with my MIL today and got groceries and such and the day ended up very long, so nothing done today.   I still need to finish more clips on the mesh and a line of wire at the top.  Hopefully this week, but we also need to brand calves, so it might be awhile.

Holly Ive never used it but my uncle has actually used it instead of wire and he swears by it. He runs it through the wood posts and he said the horses dont go anywhere near it.

Ive just replaced the back boundary fence ( this was the last of the original fences) It was help up by old pine trees and was a combination of every possible type of fence you could think of.

The new one is ringlock and an electric wire that comes out 25cm so the horses cannot get too close to the fence.

With minis i have found that the thicker the tape the more they don't touch it. Horses are larger so obviously more area to zap, minis are so tiny but have such great bounce. electrifier on or they will go through it lol

Here's a picture of my ugly little stretch of fence I installed.  And the two shelters and windbreak I put up at the bottom of the hill; The little shelter is on skids, so is portable, the big one is pole barn style.   The fence still needs one strand of wire at the top, but Shayne had the fence stretcher today, so I didn't get it done today.

Thank you.

Normal size to me, but they are 5-6' diameter and ours weigh 1200-1300#.  That's the last of the oat hay.  These are a bit bigger than our old baler made, those were like 1100#.
