Little girl is home with mom and dad and brothers. She's doing fantastic! She's able to breast feed but can't get a good suction because of the cleft in the soft pallet. So she does nurse from mom but it's difficult and wears her out. The Dr browns speciality feeder bottle is amazing. It helps with the suction. A lot less air swallowed , less burping, less gas.
We're hoping the soft pallet And lip can be repaired at the same time but won't know til we see the Dr.  Not really sure how feeding will be done after the repair... we still have so much to learn. The cleft mom support group on FB has been a wealth of info as well as supportive.
I just can't stop looking at her.... sweetest feeling ever!

I agree with Diane! Since she's already had one pedicure, will she be sporting an updated look for Valentine's Day? Have they scheduled her for surgery?

Keep us posted, so that I can update our prayer book!!

River is 3 months old now... oh the joy!! She knows me and gives me the most precious smiles I've ever seen. Oh how I am going to miss her birth smile after surgery. Though I know it's for the best.  Surgery is set up for April 18th. It's coming quickly. I am getting in as many cleftie cutie  smiles as I can.

Hi there pretty girl!!  What a sweet, sweet collage to find as an update.  She surely does light things up when she smiles.  I, too will be praying things go smoothly and that the recovery is quick and uneventful.  Feel free to share plenty of photos, particularly since she's about to celebrate Easter!

Thanks y'all....
I am hoping that they will do the surgery, as she s still so tiny. Last Dr visit she was 8 lbs 3 oz. So has only gained 2 lbs in 3 months. She is still in newborn clothes.the Dr was concerned because she's not following the growth curve. I really am unsure what all this means, not sure if it's common given she has a soft pallet cleft also.

Okay, sounds like we have a prayer job ahead of us to help her gain the weight she will need for surgery.

On it!!   ;pray ;pray ;pray

Holly, if it makes you feel better, don't be so concerned with the growth curves.  They're just averages.  As long as she's healthy otherwise, she'll probably catch up late.  After all, my twins stayed below the growth curve until 6-7 months, then shot up so quickly the doctors thought that something was wrong on the over growing side!!  All was well though.  Other than an issue with hip dysplasia that required us to go to the Shriners Hospital for many months, they were happy, healthy beautiful babies.  Just like your little girl!!
