Guinness - 2017 colt
« on: March 26, 2017, 10:29:45 AM »

So here is Guinness!  Koalah had a colt this time and he's pretty stout, too, so Guinness seemed fitting for the St Patrick's Day baby.

What is it with the "big, hairy" ears?  Here's a head shot -

Hit post before done adding pics - here's a few more.

It was so funny!  He got situated on Skye's lap and went right to sleep!  Don't think we've had that happen before...  and stayed asleep for almost 30 minutes straight, even when Skye shifted him off of her legs (which had gone to sleep).

He appears to be awake here again, but he isn't trying to get up or get away either after the girls' joined Skye...

He is a very nice, still very stout colt.  His name suits him well!

Koalah, his dam, is picking up weight nicely after also losing so much right before foaling.  Even with him being a heavy nurser and she a "milk cow".  Still has a bit to go - we are adding milk supplements to the nursing mares' feeds, too.

I don't have any "trot" photos of him - but he has some nice extension w/o a lot of lift.  No non-sense type movement.  I believe he'll make a GREAT, steady, long distance type or all day type driving pony.  I also think he'll enjoy driving - he displays so much of his mum's "ho-hum" attitude then ears up with interest at all the right times.

and the only pic of his other side - even if not complete, lol.  He has a tremendous ability to get under himself even while doing a simple, plain flat footed walk.  I wish he was big enough for me to ride -

He is very nicely straight legged behind - no cow hocks on this fella!  Those are not testicles that you see, though, just a little bit hanging as he'd just gone.

I was out to Paula's yesterday, for a quick visit after work. (It was unplanned y'all, so don't start shaming me for no piccies! LOL)

He is just as nice in person as the photos show. In real life though, he didn't have "big, hairy" ears. They were sweet little ears that sit nicely. They just don't have the tight inward prick that some horses have. As it was very hot--around 90 degrees--and also humid, everyone kind of just hung around looking at us with a sleepy expression. He didn't hesitate to dig into his own portion of a feeding though!
