Well, you'll have a good record here for next year.  Remember we said to be watchful, because they can drop from the 7's (7.2-7.4) in just one day and foal! Apparently, that was her plan all along -- keep us guessing and then WHAM!!!!

These mares can be so tricky!  But the filly is gorgeous!

I always use the injectable Banamine, but not using the needle, just squirt it in their mouth!  It tastes awful, but with all the mucous membranes in their mouth, it gets to work REALLY fast!

CONGRATULATIONS again on a BEAUTY!

I have no chance of getting any of that today I'm just worried she'll colic or something. She's not really eating hay but ate a scoop of warm beet this morning.

Actually, some warm mushy food is the very best thing to help her get her system started.  Don't worry about the hay, she'll get back to that soon enough.  But nice, soft mushy food is just the thing!

Yes she'll get another one later on too. She looks slightly more comfortable but I'm still waiting on a poo.

This is even more stressful than waking on the foal!

A little fresh grass might help too, it's moist and tasty; just go easy if she's not used to it.
She's been through a lot and probably won't be interested in hay til she has a little banamine on board, or whatever pain reliever you have available to take the edge off for her.

She's eating hay and up for a while now. She looks much better. Still want a poo but then she didn't really eat last night - but I didn't notice at the time!

Pregnant mares tend to clean out their systems right before foaling, so it might be awhile before you see the mare poop.  As long as she seems comfortable now and is taking care of her baby and drinking and working on eating, she'll probably be fine.
The foal should do her business fairly soon after foaling; get up, get a meal, then the plumbing should start working shortly after that.

I thought you were waiting on a foal poo.  As Chanda says, these mares empty out their systems before delivery, so it may take a while for things to get moving again.  Don't worry, everything will start to work, especially now that you say she is up and eating.  For some mares, it can take quite a while.

But, we will take many more pictures of this precious little one!!

No foal had pooed twice now so I'm happy with that. Been 12 hours for charm. She's happy and eating though in fact she's starving lol

Yes, her whole system is empty, but that makes foaling so much easier for them.  She'll be going before you know it!

She's crazy. She won't stop.

She's a bit more settled now but out of an entire stable of bedding and soft mats, she lies down on the ft wide bit of contrete!!

The concrete might be cooler for her.  Is it warm there?  Remember, she's just done a very hard job, and might be a bit hot.  Just watch to be sure she's not running a fever.  Did she pass her placenta okay?
