When I clipped black babies - they looked 'steel grey' or 'blue'.  Here's our stallion - no pics of his 2 black daughters when we clipped either of them - simply didn't think about it.





This pic is huge, sorry.  3 months later, when his coat fully back in.



I do have 2 darker bay pinto foals by that stallion but unfortunately, the pics of them cameo clipped (head/neck only) just don't show the difference very well...





I've had one dark/sooty buckskin in 1979 - but never clipped her to my knowledge.  The very light buckskin filly we currently have is our first!

Diane is one of the experts on Appy coloring, but that looks like it may be appaloosa to me...  ??

Give it a few days, and the color will come back in.  And yes, it's a little "suspect" to me, but we'll have to wait and see what develops. 

This little boy was born completely black!  And by age 2 -- well, you can see what "developed" !!
