New filly born at Hickory Springs!
« on: July 18, 2016, 10:08:19 AM »
We want to announce the birth of our pretty Falabella blend filly who was born July 16th. She is a lovely chestnut with bobbie socks and a prescent moon star.
Her daddy is a fewspot and her dam is a leopard so we were shocked that she came out solid in color, but Diane has reassured me that this little miss will spot out in time. We were so hopeful to get lots of dots or color or a fewspot, but just the same we love her dearly.
We named her Sweet Siobhan (sounds like Sha von), a Gaelic name we love. She is feisty and already keeping her dam quite busy with vigorous suckling and running about. Diamond, her dam is doing great too.
Enjoy her pics!

Thanks everyone for the the wonderful comments about Siobhan. She is sweet and is doing well. It has been quite hot here like most of our country, but we are pleased that she is nursing well on mama and has found the water to play in so all is good.
She has super long legs and with both parents being around 34" tall, we figure she will be as tall or a tad smaller than her mama.

Okay Debbie....tagging you for an update on another of yours! While I'm thinking about it, how many are you expecting in 2017? Surely you'd like help keeping an eye on them?? (Hint, hint)

Now, that information I know!

She's expecting 8 pure Falabella babies, 3 Blends, and 10+ American minis.  She'll be a busy girl this spring!

WOW!! Even if she has them spread over 5 months, that's 1 a week. When will she ever sleep??

She keeps me busy just doing all the pedigrees and registrations for that crew!

She just sent me the list of expected little ones for spring -- that's how I knew how many were coming.  At least I can start the pedigree work on them, so I can just put in the specifics.

OMG!  I just realized I need to do a pedigree for someone here so she can see the "SPOTS" in the history!  I guess better get cracking!

As Julie stated above - "WOW"!  I can't imagine how busy Hickory Springs will be this spring.  Any ideas when the first one is expected?

Are hers hand bred or pasture exposed?

A bit of both.  Some hand breeding, and then some releases into the pastures together.  But everyone is doing fine.  I'll have to check my notes for expected dates, but she breeds for April-May, I believe, because of the weather in upstate New York.
