Title: New fabric...
Post by: Chanda on September 15, 2018, 12:21:03 AM
Happy belated birthday to me!

Couldn't help myself, and while I didn't get a huge bargain, the local shop was having a 20% off customer appreciation sale. What can I say, I did buy a little new fabric.
The white on the bottom doesn't go with the rest, but I had to have it; it's cowboy boots.
And, how could I resist hubby coming in and saying, "I didn't get you anything for your birthday, so I'll buy that for you".
I have more browns in my stash that should coordinate.

Hooray for you! Belated birthday greetings!  Hope your day was wonderful!

I'd love to see more of that horse panel fabric.  I'm coming up with an idea.....

It's eight different horse scenes.

How big are the panels?  Are they big enough to make separate pillows?  I could use some, and those look beautiful!

I think they are only about 10" square.  And, I only have the one piece, which is like 8 squares.  And, I'm not too sure if this batch will be available, this might be for me.   :o  Haven't gotten that far with the idea, yet.   There is a different iron in the fire first; and I was experimenting, and sewed the colors wrong, so have to start over.  Darn it.

I understand, as it was your birthday present from Hubby.  But if you ever come across more, let me know!

Thinking this is going to be my current project.
I have 3-4 shades of brown fabric, two shades of turquoise, and a golden color for my stars.

New fabric that just arrived today.  This is store stock, so more available than the piece that was b-day gift.
Cute farm animal panel print.

I have a few other fairly new arrivals, too, but haven't gotten them ready for listing,  yet, so no pictures.

Trying out a border idea, the two side borders would like the one pictured, one with the "arrow" up, and one down like pictured; the bottom borders would not have the "arrows".  Trying to decide if it's a bit dark or plain, but I'm not sure.

I might get another picture today.  Center is sewn together, now, just need to decide direction for borders and corner pieces.

I don't think I like the corner block, so will likely change that, but I think I like the light stripe against the blocks better than the dark.

Thank you.
I know you usually like them all, but what do you think...  Dark stripe against the blocks (first pic) or light stripe against the blocks (second/last pic)?  TY

And, I probably will change that corner block, I just don't know to what, but not likely the weird diagonal stripe.

I think the light stripe against the blocks as it creates more of a frame around your center display, and can't wait to see what you come up with for the corner block changes without the diagonal.

No picture, but I went with more arrows (just two points, instead the three on the sides).

Top is finished, not sure when I'll get it quilted.  It'll probably be available when it is finished.

Don't think I mentioned it here, but did to Diane, I'm working on a Candy Cane quilt.
My mom cut a pattern and directions out of a regional paper last year.  The pattern calls it "Candy Cane".  I did adjust it a little bit and plan to make it smaller.  It's solid red and solid white, and I'm debating using a tone-on-tone white snowflake print in the border (the red and white doesn't coordinate at all, the reds clash).
Anyway, attached is a picture of half of the top, I still have to press and sew together the other strips for the rest of the top.

No new picture, but had time to sew today, go all the pieces sewn into 4 row strips, and those 4 row strips sewn into three pair sets.   Getting there.

The other day when I was in town, I picked up some fabric to make a small project of some sort for a local fundraiser.  Had to pick up fabric, as I wanted to use the school colors of the town where the fundraiser will be held, thought local colors might drum up interest.  Will probably make potholders and maybe a table runner or something.   School colors are orange, black and white; so will be interesting to work with.   Found some black and white fabric with food words, and another with the alphabet.

Finished these placemats the other day.  They are available.
Due to the pattern, they come as a set of six, as shown.

I just ordered two small quilt kits from a friend in WV, not exactly sure what I'll be getting, as they are almost sight unseen.  She had a batch of quilt kits on sale on her FB page, so I ordered two kits plus a couple extra patterns.   I ordered the two circled.  Not sure how soon I'll get them, as she has a lot on her plate at the moment, she said she just fired her whole staff (she has a quilt shop, and a chocolate covered cherry business).

As if I need more fabric, but I thought the new patterns might give me some inspiration for the fabric I have, too.
If I get back to work, I can finish the candy cane top in an afternoon.
I have some potholders and or a table runner to make for a fundraiser auction coming up after the first of the year.
