I actually had to fix something like this not that long ago.

My Goddaughter thought she would give her shetland a trim.

I nearly cried when I saw it, I was more angry at her mother for letting an 8yo do that to her pony.

We now have an agreement that if she ever needs her mane or tail done that I would come over and do it.

I, too, would have cried.  In all actuality still would!

I had a pony out on lease quite a number of years ago - registered shetland/hackney cross that was trained as a hunter pony.  When we showed up at a show, she'd had her lovely coronet band length tail "bobbed" to her hocks - like you would see a western horse in the west in the 60's & 70's (by the 80s, long tails were coming into vogue for western horses, too).  This mare, like all of our ponies have, trotted out with her tail carried "gaily", or raised,  at the dock - so her tail looked like it was cut at her lower bum cheeks.  It was hard to deal with!  I was more than a little angry.  The woman tried to say that was how the Europeans did it - but she was surprised when I countered that with actual pictures of them - to include ponies.  It did eventually grow out, and I realized that I was probably silly for getting angry, but still....

I DID cry as I cut the tails and undercut manes in April and May.  But it was SO MUCH EASIER to work with the ponies w/ so much less hair.  If I'd had clippers properly working - they'd have all been body clipped as well (then with the sun out we'd have had some major lice kill BUT we'd also have been dealing with sunburn or sheets for some).  At least we aren't currently showing or going to events - haven't even had family out on a regular basis, so like I said - MUCH easier to deal with.

But I always catch my breath and get shiny eyed when I see something like that!  The worst part is - sometimes that will make the forelock grow bushier/thicker (of course, only on the ones you'd prefer it didn't)!

Not proud that I did it at the time, But I told my 8yo goddaugther that next time she took her pony to Pony club that they would take him off her for doing something like that to her pony.Which in turn nearly brought her to tears.

It honestly looked like she had used a butter knife ..............

Here's one of Lucky and the cremello stallion I used to own. (I wonder if he's still listed in AMHR as owned by me? Total Chaos Casper if anyone is able to look.)  They stood in the door like this all of the time.

Here are a couple funnies, that I think we all can appreciate in one form or another.  We've had spring peepers here the last couple of weeks (I heard them long before Spanky started to shed.)  I wonder if this is what they were asking me?

Reminds me of my cousin when I was growing up.  It seemed like EVERY time we went riding, she fell off and hit her head on a rock.  And our horses would just stand over her and look down at her with almost this expression!!  She never did catch on to riding, but she sure gave it a good try!

This just has me smiling!

Thank you for the compliment and the look-up Diane.  I'm disappointed though.  I'd hoped the buyer had transferred him so that I could contact them.  :-\  Not that I can say too much on the "delayed" transfer subject.  I've put off transferring Spanky all this time, and am now having to pay all the late fees associated with it.  :o :o  It's not gonna be cheap, let me tell you!

Thank you too, Ryan. I'll see if I can post a couple of other pictures of him.  In the previous one, you can just see a bit of leftover pink on him.  It was the leftovers from a pony party he'd done the day before.  Even after 3 baths, there was still some color to him.  :)) :))  He earned enough that year to pay for his keep.  If it hadn't been for a family issue, that might have involved me staying in Tennessee for at least 6 months, I wouldn't have sold him.  I do miss him at times as I had him quite well trained in hand.  What I've done once before though, I can do again.

Well, poo.  >:(  I'll have to resize them first.  Look for them later!

I agree Diane.  I find that "barbwire bra" one becomes even more obvious at this time of year.  Last year's hay has about lost all of it's nutrition and softness, so it really DOES feel like prickles in there. ROFL

I think my favorite is the bankruptcy one.  When I think back to what I used to pay for horses in a better market and having 45 horses, with 15 stallions, costs were certainly out of sight.  Then, since I had dry lots -- no pasture -- and alfalfa was $20/bale + grain....DUH!

That picture says it all!!

Wowzers and I feel the effects of having 6 at times.

And being on dry lots too , I can understand why the Bankruptcy one grabbed your attention :)

Thought we all might need a little levity.  I'm still laughing, so thought I would share.  Not quite a "horsey" story.....

A RETIREE'S LAST TRIP TO KROGER?S.

Yesterday I was at my local Kroger?s buying a large bag of Purina Dog Chow for my loyal pet, Jake, the Wonder Dog, and was in the check-out line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog.

What did she think..I had an elephant?

So because I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is, to load your pants pockets with Purina Nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.)

Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stopped to pee on a fire hydrant and a car hit me.

I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard.

Kroger?s won't let me shop there anymore.

Better watch what you ask retired people. They have all the time in the world to think of crazy things to say.

Forward this (especially) to all your retired friends..

This is your laugh for the day!

They are called Asses for a reason...  Tilly is supposed to be inside the panels on the left of the pic, there is one short panel out of view that she must have jumped (probably what happened yesterday, except yesterday, a regular panel fell over as well, letting out the two horses, as well).

Tilly, we still love you any more. 😘😘  I just KNOW that you got out when those naughty biggie horses were escaping, and leaned your short panel waaay over.  You just sauntered over there to check that they were alright, and in your curiosity suddenly found yourself on the wrong side. I 😉🙃😉

Diane, I've tried to post my Purina Dog Chow story a couple times, and internet keeps eating eat.  I'll have to try from my laptop.

Except, it was all littles that escaped.  Tilly "rooms" with a mini mare and a mini stallion.  And, Tilly does test the fences; just hadn't found a weak spot til this week.
Title: Re: LOL

I know most little donkeys think it's their job to ensure all their "charges" are safe inside the fences, and the "bad guys" are outside the fence.

I guess this makes Tilly think she's supposed to TEST the fences all the time to make sure no one can get in.  Getting out is just part of the testing procedure.   LOL
