Title: Available Quilts (June 2017)
Post by: Chanda on June 20, 2017, 07:56:05 PM
Since pretty much all the quilts I had listed in the other thread have sold, I decided to start a new thread and delete that one, as the quilts were getting buried.

I currently only have two quilts available:
1. horse scenery quilt - 46x57" - $80.00 plus s/h
2. Laurel Burch horse quilt - details to come, as I can't seem to find my information, but it is completed.

I primarily make lap quilts and smaller.
I also have a Christmas table runner completed, need to get a picture on that.
And, I have two of these floral table toppers, they are almost complete, I've been dragging my feet on getting the binding done.

I loved that table runner for Christmas last year.  My mom was so pleased!  Can't wait to see the new one!

It's similar, but took me longer to finish, as I didn't have a deadline.

Ok, so now instead of quilt sales going towards that hopeful mare, they are going towards this year's purchased hay, we are in a drought and my hay I buy jumped 30% this year plus I'll probably need to buy more hay pellets than usual to stretch hay (I always use a little hay pellets to improve the quality of the forage I feed).

I still need to finish the two cute floral octagon table toppers, but they are available.  I'll get a picture of the Christmas runner, soon.   And, the Laurel Burch quilt is probably going to be priced between $100 and $125, I still need to do a little math on it, but I think it's similar in size to the other horse quilt, but more expensive fabric in it (Laurel Burch is expensive and rarely on sale).

Hope that mare is still available when funds permit. :)

Even with all the extra rain we had our prices increased instead of decreased.

Well, it'll probably be a different mare I'm looking at by the time funds are available.  Don't think I can afford to feed another mouth this  year.

I know what you mean , Id really like to get another riding horse but when it comes to parting with the ones i have :). I have two Ive been planning to move on for the last 6 months , but im hopeless. One is quite special to me as he was broken in by a friend of mine that passed away 2 years ago. He had been out on lease as a lead / beginners pony but the girl out grew him.

I'm about hopeless when it comes to selling.  I have sold on a couple, but I wasn't attached at all and they weren't a good fit, so wasn't too bad.

Still have the two quilts available pictured in the first post.
Still thinking, that my quilt sales are to save up for another mini  mare, so please take a look and consider one or the other.  It's getting close to quilting time, but not before fencing time is done.

Getting closer to looking at a mare, you guys need to help me out.  I know I only  have a couple quilts ready for sale now, but they are nice ones.

Horse meadow scene is 46x57" - $80 plus s/h
Laurel Burch quilt is 46x72" (might be a bit wider, I measured in a hurry) - $125 plus s/h
Colors on the Laurel Burch are nicer in person, I can try to get a better pic for color during the day sometime, but wanted to get a competed picture (also have a close-up shot).

I finished this top last spring, it's waiting for layering, pinning and quilting.   I missed Friday's sewing day in town, where I can use tables to do the work; but we are having a sewing day down at the Fish Hatchery next Saturday (30th), and will be able to do it then.   I also have a stripey quilt top finished, it's different, needs to be pressed, then layered and pinned for quilting, it's also going down to the fish hatchery.  [The Fish Hatchery offers their friendship room for small groups to do stuff like this, free of charge.]
The quilt pictured, the focal fabric is Horoscope fabric.

It'll be at least next week before I can get a picture of it.
But, it'll be similar to this one, except the strips run up and down instead of across, and no borders (this one is taken across the quilt instead of up/down).  [Different fabric, too.]

If I can ever get the binding done, I will have two tabletoppers available.  I'm hand sewing the binding, and it takes me forever, which is why I rarely do it by hand.

I'll let you take a look once it's done, you may not be impressed with the fabrics in it, it's an interesting collection of fabrics, a little bit old fashioned.   I can show you a picture of the fabric I picked for the backing, its a cute grey and white.

Made it to the sewing day, yesterday, got both quilts layered and pinned together.  Today, it's raining, so I am quilting; I'm halfway through the strip quilt.  I may even have time to get the other one done today, does help that I do simple quilting and everything by machine.

Ok, got two quilts finished. the strip quilt (don't know if you'll like it Diane, now that you can see the fabrics and colors), and the horoscope quilt.   Will post a complete pic and a close-up pic of each for you.
And, now I can get back to my yellow and blue quilt I started last spring, lots of pieces to deal with, so I set it aside.

Spent much of the day sewing, got the center of the blue and yellow quilt sewn together, need to press it, measure it so I can determine how wide of borders I want to add, then add the borders.

Trying out my border, looking at making the side borders slightly wider than the top and bottom borders to adjust the size of the quilt a bit.

Is there anything small you'd like to see and would be interested in buying for Christmas gifts or something?   What I'm willing to make is somewhat limited, but I was thinking potholders, hotpads (slightly bigger than potholders), tablerunners, placemats, etc.

I would love 4 Christmas Table Runners for all my daughters & daughters-in-law for Christmas, if you have time to do 4?

My mom still loves hers, and it was so pretty!!

The new quilt arrived and it's fabulous, of course!

Oh, I forgot to add above, that Katy is being deployed again to the war zone, on December 8 -- the day before her anniversary, and on my twins 37th birthday.

If you can make the table runners, I would love to have hers sent before she leaves, as she will not be here for Christmas.  I'm going to go "lay my hands on her" before she leave, from November 25 to December 1st, and I can give you her address to mail it to -- maybr getting there during the time I'm there.

You know I have to just "touch" her before she leaves for her deployment.  Mom's just have to do that, I believe.  Just have to hug and kiss her and spend some quality time with her before she goes back to war.

Let me know if you think that's possible.  If hers is the only one you have time to make, that's fine, but I know she will appreciate it, and I'd love for her to see it before she goes.

~~Diane

So 4 Christmas print table runners?   I can do that by Christmas, and I get one done before December, possibly even all of them, but one for certain.   Just need to get into "Christmas print" mode.   ;)   I have a stack of Christmas prints in my fabric room, and a new pattern book that I just might have to try out.

I'm trying a new pattern, not sure if I'm going to like the process, so perhaps only one in this pattern, and the others in different patterns, time to get looking through the books for something interesting and different, but doable in a month  to 6 weeks.

Just looked in a book on my desk, and found a pattern that will look lovely, but be simple enough in construction to be quick, so I can easily get 3 done in this pattern.  I already cut fabric, so one will be the other pattern.   [Might make all 4 the same or two and two, we'll see when I'm done testing out the first pattern.]

Sounds exciting for sure.  Katy is the only one far away, so even 3 the same is fine, as the other ladies all live within a hour of here, but 2/2 will also be fine.

Can't wait!

Early color testing.
Blocks are set, and I like the gold floral for corners, but...
Can't decide white or red for inner border.

I like the Christmas red.

I might mix it up a little so they aren't all exactly the same.  I still can't decide which I like, and I found a different fabric that might work in place of the gold floral.  Lots to work with.

mixing it up a little bit, the center blocks are all the same, but the triangles are different.  Ended up going with white for the skinny border, otherwise the red and green pieces on the corners blend in too much; think I know which fabric I'm going to use for the outer border.   Might have a picture later today.
One is still planned to be the other pattern, but I have a lot more work to do on that.
Title: Re: Available Quilts (June 2017)

Trying out a couple fabrics for the second border.  Like the green floral, not sure about the red swirl (it is one of the reds in the patch blocks), I also have green in the swirl.
Prefer the gold triangles, but there will be one made with the holly print; you will be getting an assortment of tablerunners, they won't be identical.

3 table runner tops finished (1 with the white/green triangles, 2 with the gold), the tan print will be the backing.
[Might be able to quilt tomorrow, but my machine I quilt with is in the dining room, and Shayne is on the couch sick, so no noise out there today.]
One more to go, still planning to try out that new pattern, already have half the pieces cut and sewed for it, just need to work on the other half.

Found a table runner in the new pattern book that uses 3 blocks, so got the three blocks done today; tomorrow, I'll try to put them together with the sashing and borders and we'll have a table runner.  It'll be a bit wider and a bit shorter than the other table runners, but same fabrics.

Sorry, no quilting today, I cleaned the mares' pen with the tractor before winter really sets in.
Hopefully, come spring, I can get 4 posts set, so I can put up a gate in the pen.  Right now, I pull up 3 t-posts and remove the mesh to clean with the tractor, as it only has a couple 4' walk-thru gates for coming and going, nothing tractor size.

Might be the last bit of productivity outside til spring.  We are only in the teens and 20s right now (Fahrenheit).  But, it's really nice not to have the big hump of manure and old hay in their pen, it really builds up around the feeder.

No fireplace, so no wood to chop.   Hay is all home (we raise cattle, so put up our own hay); hay is crap this year due to the drought, so will be supplementing the horses with alfalfa pellets (and some beet pulp) and the cows with protein cake (large pellets).   We've already had a skiff of snow, but not much moisture predicted for the near future.

They went more smoothly than I expected and I didn't have anything in line ahead of them.  All will ship together, and you can distribute as you wish, and they should get to you in plenty of time for you to take with.
Well, I have those rose print table toppers, but I'm almost done with those, so they could be ready for someone, if there is any interest for a Christmas gift.
The blue and yellow quilt I just finished is lap size and available.

Darn it, I had a stack of blue Christmas print fabrics with plans to one day make a Christmas tree skirt, and now that I have an idea/plan, I can't find the blue fabrics.  I don't think I got rid of them, but boy if they are still here, I sure hid them well.  I did find a stack of other Christmas fabrics that I can give the plan a try with and see how it goes.

Trying the tree skirt pattern, real basic pattern.  One fabric is an odd ball, but I think it'll still be pretty when done.  I have 6 sections sewn together, tomorrow I'll press all those seams, then sew the sections together and hopefully have an even tree skirt top.  I'll need to figure out ties or something for the open edge, so that it can be held together, but still go around the tree.

Okay, I'm intrigued. I think you'll have 5 sold before you know it! I don't do a tree, since it's only me, and my mom doesn't do a tree, but I have 5 families that do trees with lots of grandchildren....so......

But next year is fine for those, since I've taken up so much of your time this year.

Tree skirt top finished, need to figure out a fabric for the backing and then quilt it and add ties or something to hold the open edge together to keep it around a tree.
I could also fill the center with a circle of fabric, and this could be a table topper, but that has to be decided before I quilt.

Will there be a bound slit so it can be wrapped around a tree?  Or do they have to fit it on the trunk before setting it in the stand?

It's beautiful, by the way!!

It'll have a bound slit with ties or maybe hook and eye to hold the edges.
If I make table toppers, they'll be complete circles without slits.
I've started quilting it, just basic stitching, but it's coming together.

Looking for just the right  fabric to bind the tree skirt, so working on...
Found this fabric, last year, I think; just loved the collection, so had to buy it (paid full-price :o ).  And with the ruler I bought to make the tree skirt, I was able to cut interesting shapes to use.   The side borders will be pieced, the top and bottom borders will be the border print; I may use the same part top and bottom, or I may mix it up a bit.

It's one of my all-time favorite collections that I've found, at least when it comes to non-horse theme collections.

I have one border sewn all around, looking at adding a border to the sides (it's currently long and skinny, so needs to be widened a bit).   Thinking just the animal circle print on the sides for now, not quite sure how I'll splice to length, as the pieces laid out, are the length I have.

The tree skirt is done. It's available for $100 plus s/h.
I don't have a completed picture, yet, but here's the previous picture I took before it was completed.  It has a cream colored binding.

New stash of equine fabric samples arrived today, so I have some new fabrics for planning quilts with, might have to make a bigger quilt with all these pretty pieces.  Will try to get a picture one of these days.
Have new Christmas fabrics coming, so I have some new fabrics to go with what I already have to make some tree skirts.

Just some new fabrics, the horse prints arrived a month ago or more, but just got the pictures taken yesterday (special ordering another horse print for a friend).
The Christmas fabrics just arrived today, so I have something to mix in with the prints I already have to make 5 tree skirts with for next year.

No new picture, but I'm about done with the Outback baby quilt (or wall hanging, maybe) and I made a slightly smaller one with my left-overs.  Will get pictures of both when they are done.

Hedgehogs and wombats and platypus, oh my!!

That looks so inviting Chanda, I like it. I'd hang it in a sunny corner at my place...if the house was done yet.

Actually it's an Echidna, Australian spiny anteater; but the one on this fabric panel does look like a hedgie.

I'll try to get a picture of both finished quilts, soon.

Fabric room is a mess, so not sure when I'll get a picture of the last two completed quilts.
I've now started work on a tree skirt order, so I can get some of the tops done before I quit sewing for the season.

One tree skirt quilted, 3 pinned and ready for quilting.  I might get a couple done by Monday for Quilt guild meeting and show and tell.   Hope the weather straightens out, as we are having a winter storm, near blizzard conditions with cold temps.

Sounds good to me, we are so over winter around here.   Although, I'm not sure how much better mud would be for calves.

And, second tree skirt quilted.

Sounds great.  And of course you're right, mud would be even harder for the little ones.
