First for Rachel and Juliette, then Kelan and Kaylee, then Chase and Ryan.  So, we're missing:  Tommy, Joshua, Jack and Jase (4 more boys -- not many girls in this group!)

That's a lot of boys.  Sounds like hubby's family.  There are only two or three girls in his generation (his dad had 7 siblings); almost all the cousins are boys.

I wanted to update everyone about our grand baby...
If I haven't yet... Its a GIRL!...yay!
Her name is River. Middle name Leigh...we are so excited!
We are at 36 weeks now and she could be here anytime!
Last week we had a final ultra sound and learned our sweet girl has a cleft lip possible cleft pallet. She is also very small so there are concerns of a possible genetic disorder so specialist advises genetic testing after she is born. Normally they would do an amino but because were so close to delivery Dr feels its best to wait. We are learning all we can do we can provide the best care possible and also get doctors lined up for future surgery.
Its all going to be ok in the long run as we know God will provide and guide us all the way.
Please pray for her as well as her parents. Finding out so close to delivery has us scrambling.
Here's a 4 d ultrasound picture!!

Please keep us posted on this upcoming delivery!!  Can't wait to hear of her birth!  Aren't these ultrasounds amazing?  They still amaze me, since I had never seen one like this until my last grandson, Ryan.

Praying for the testing, the work that will progress in the future, and I KNOW that the Lord will take care of this, as He has it all in His hands!  Thank goodness we have Him to lean on, and know He is always in control.

Praying for little River, her parents and you all!!!    ;pray ;pray ;pray ;pray ;pray

Baby is up to 5 &1/2 lbs. 38 weeks so specialist says we're going to have a tiny baby. We shopped after appointment yesterday for some preemie clothes and diapers just in case. Today we see OB to see if DIL has any more cervical changes. Last week she was 70% effaced and dilated 2 cm. All bags  are packed and ready to go!!

Well don't forget, babies usually gain a pound a week the final weeks, so baby might be a little bigger than you think.  I'm so excited for you, and can't wait for the announcement

Praying for a safe and uneventful delivery of a gorgeous little one.

Don't forget pictures when you make your announcement.  You know we LOVE pictures!!

Thanks so much y'all!
The weight isn't the issue as much as her body measurements. Her version is 38, 39 on friday. But baby measures 35 weeks. She is growing correctly just a shorter than normal length per* norm.
We're very happy she looks healthy as can be!

All else being normal, let's hope Samantha carries her baby a little bit longer than the norm, to put those extra special finishing touches on. You know, kinda like those mares that keep us waiting..... waiting.....WAITING. 😍😍😍😄😄😄

We've kept them in the prayer book. It's good to hear that all is well. Keep growing, beautiful baby!

Mommy and daddy doing great. Mommy is a champ & great mommy.
Ok so very good news. Lip & soft pallet involved only. Very minimal soft pallet and lip cleft. Repair will be uncomplicated and should have minimal scaring.
We are feeling very blessed. With a special feeder bottle she has been able to nurse without complication, pumped breast milk.

Oh, that is very good news Holly!! I'm with Diane, with thanks for answered prayers. 😍😍😍

She is such a pretty baby, and I'm glad everyone is doing well.  Will she have to wait for the surgery before she can be breastfed? Has she gone home yet?

Are you VERY excited to have your first Christmas as a grandmamma??
Title: Re: It's in the water!
Post by: Holly on December 10, 2017, 02:56:41 PM
Little girl is home with mom and dad and brothers. She's doing fantastic! She's able to breast feed but can't get a good suction because of the cleft in the soft pallet. So she does nurse from mom but it's difficult and wears her out. The Dr browns speciality feeder bottle is amazing. It helps with the suction. A lot less air swallowed , less burping, less gas.
We're hoping the soft pallet And lip can be repaired at the same time but won't know til we see the Dr.  Not really sure how feeding will be done after the repair... we still have so much to learn. The cleft mom support group on FB has been a wealth of info as well as supportive.
I just can't stop looking at her.... sweetest feeling ever!

River is 3 months old now... oh the joy!! She knows me and gives me the most precious smiles I've ever seen. Oh how I am going to miss her birth smile after surgery. Though I know it's for the best.  Surgery is set up for April 18th. It's coming quickly. I am getting in as many cleftie cutie  smiles as I can.

Hi there pretty girl!!  What a sweet, sweet collage to find as an update.  She surely does light things up when she smiles.  I, too will be praying things go smoothly and that the recovery is quick and uneventful.  Feel free to share plenty of photos, particularly since she's about to celebrate Easter!

Thanks y'all....
I am hoping that they will do the surgery, as she s still so tiny. Last Dr visit she was 8 lbs 3 oz. So has only gained 2 lbs in 3 months. She is still in newborn clothes.the Dr was concerned because she's not following the growth curve. I really am unsure what all this means, not sure if it's common given she has a soft pallet cleft also.

Okay, sounds like we have a prayer job ahead of us to help her gain the weight she will need for surgery.

On it!!   ;pray ;pray ;pray

Holly, if it makes you feel better, don't be so concerned with the growth curves.  They're just averages.  As long as she's healthy otherwise, she'll probably catch up late.  After all, my twins stayed below the growth curve until 6-7 months, then shot up so quickly the doctors thought that something was wrong on the over growing side!!  All was well though.  Other than an issue with hip dysplasia that required us to go to the Shriners Hospital for many months, they were happy, healthy beautiful babies.  Just like your little girl!!

Thank you, Lord!!  We thank you for an easy, uneventful and successful surgery.  We thank you for the cheerful and supportive family she has around her.  We also thank you in advance for the quick recovery with no complications.   O:-)

Wow Holly, you've had a very emotional last 24 hours, haven't you?!  How long does she have to stay in the hospital for recovery?  Are there any special aftercare instructions?  Do you or the family need any special prayers?  I hope it's not presumptuous to think that mom and dad have been doing well both emotionally and physically.  Caring for anyone with special needs can be stressful.  I can only imagine how much more trying it can be when it's your newborn child.

Again, please let us know how we can support you.  Sometimes, internet friends really ARE friends.  :-* :-*

# love yall!!

River is doing very well... there is a bit of aftercare, follow up appointments and such. Mom and dad are doing good too, it's been tough seeing her with stitches and her nose stents but we're adjusting.... she's been a bit sore, to be expected , but Tylenol helps so much.
I got my first new smile... and love it!
