I have my first show on Saturday and I'm quite literally not prepared at all. I've only got half a clip done, no show outfit (it's in the mail) and I've not even done any ground work/training.
Also it's snowing a bit this week! It's all a disaster!
-
Oh my! Sounds like you're going to have a VERY busy next two days!!!!
So who are you showing? And add us to your list of things to do, because we'll want an update and pictures!! LOL
-
I'm showing banner and if she's ready my friends filly! I've never really handled youngsters so this will be fun! Lol. Can't be any worse than a randy stallion :-\
-
I don't show, so no tips or suggestions, just good luck wishes.
-
Rocklone, I may be picking your brain for show tips as Digby and I are just starting this adventure. Best wishes to you!!
-
It will all be fiiiiiine I'm sure. I just need to get my ass in gear and clip and prep banner. He was sent to me last year already prepared so I just had to show! Lol

Must be the month for it .............. I was supposed to go in my first event earlier this month. I had wanted to do eventing since i was a little kid. I was all ready to rock and roll and at the last minute tore the ligament in my pelvis. I feel like im living at the physio at the moment.
One good thing that has come out of this was that about 3 months ago , I was contacted on FB by a lady who tought me to ride when I was 5 ( Im now 36) I remembered her straight away but after my parent split when I was around 8 , we lost contact.... So to get a message after all these years and too catch up has been unreal :) Her daughter is a high level eventer here. Funny thing is when She taught me to ride , she had no children. She now has three at ages 28,25,18. We had been riding alot until the ligament injury.
So I had been training on her mare, even took myself over the first jumps in 25 years.
Im more determined than ever to get to my first event , Sorry for rambling , just dont let this deter you Rocklone , youll get there , and we will need to see Pictures and to hear all about it :)

Wow, Ryan!!
That's fabulous being able to be in touch again with such a wonderful "memory" in person! I did lots of riding and eventing when I was MUCH younger -- wouldn't dare do it now!
Keep your determination! You'll do some wonderful things, as I really think we do better as we age a bit, and understand how important practice and form are. As youngsters it's more about the fun!
You'll have to send us some pictures. Do you have large horses as well? If so -- let us see!!!!
And yes, We're going to have to hear about that show, Rocklone! I can't wait!
-
Oh thanks Diane :)
Yes I have large horses too, Ill find some pictures and post them :)
Yes I like your thinking , hoping to age like a nice shiraz :)

Lovely!!

Ouch! I hope you get well soon Ryan. I haven't shown for years but listening to you girls makes me think back to all the preparations and boy were there lots. The list of things to do before and things to take to the show was never ending but I am a bit of a perfectionist and I tend to pack for every possible event. At this point it is a bit late for training so just go with the flow and see how is goes and take it as a learning experience for both you and your horse.
Good luck.
-
Wow ryan your horses are beautiful! What a shame about your pelvis, i have a bad hip from a fall and sometimes it clicks. i have to lie on the floor and do these stretches which are kind of funny but otherwise i can't rise to trot!
Well another day gone and i have nothing done. Its FREEZING here poor banner had to get another rug on cause his half clip made him shiver. I need to do legs and another head clip. auuuughh. Tomorrow....
-
Thanks everyone for the lovely comments.
Ive been attending a few events with some friends here and I nearly died at the amount of gear that they take to each event. I had to go home and look at the tack box at the front of the float to see if everything would fit.
Yes I am very much looking forward to the day I attend the first one , it will be a great learning experience and Im sure , so much fun.
Hoping the weather warms up shortly for you Rocklone , its should be getting colder here but we have had the warmest autumn in 25 years so far, sorry we maybe hogging the weather :)
-
You are! I am now officially blaming everything on you personally :(

Well i didn't need to worry first show was great!! Banner was very calm, more than usual. He was just a dream. He came away with three firsts (stallion, show horse in miniature, solid colour) and the champion!

Woo Hoo! Way to go.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
All sounds fabulous, and what a great job -- and a VERY lovely picture of that special boy!!!!
-
He was great. Really knows his job. There was another horse who i have known a year or so, and i really like. He is younger so not as experienced but when he settles he will be a force!
-
Oh CONGRATS and very well done to both of you - Banner looks fabulous, my ideal of the perfect mini! :)
-
Congratulations :) He looks amazing !!
-
Congratulations :D What a great way to start. He looks fabulous and I agree with Anna, my type of boy too.
You better lock his door at night ;) Diane, fuel up the plane, I have a horse to pick up. lmao
