Title: Let the healing begin!
Post by: Holly on December 13, 2016, 07:38:55 PM
Thank you all so much for supporting me! So nice to have online friends!
Tomorrow morning we are getting another great Pyrenees! Her name is Bea, she is A little bit older than Bear!
Her owner is moving into an apartment and can't keep her, so we get to add another member to our family.
So happy Bear won't be alone anymore!
Pictures after she arrives!!

Lovely dogs.  Our neighbor has a Border Collie named Daisy.

Oh, she's quite stunning!!!  I'm so glad the "powers that be" worked this out for you!  What a beautiful gift to you and your family at a hard time.  She looks just wonderful!  Blessings to all!

Looks like she could do with some groceries, too!!

Yes she really can use more eight and some muscling. Being that she was an indoor dog and only had a small yard, she didnt get much exercise or have much of an appetite. I will get another picture in a month.

Well, hopefully since she has such love and attention, and a little competition at meal time, she'll be encouraged to eat and chow down!  She really is quite lovely!!

Thank you all so much! Things are working really well. She is getting used to the minis, Bear is teaching her that they are to be protected, not barked at. ( its so amazing to watch him teach her really!)
There is a lot of playing still and I can tell that they are really bonding. They stay together in the same areas, and do so well together in the house. Bear is still a bit jealous when we pet her and he usually sticks his head in between so he gets some too.
Last night she got to be in the house with the grand kids, I was nervous, but tried really hard not to show it, and Daisy did amazing with them! She even went so far as to follow them around the house for attention. That was a huge relief. Bear is a bit more stand off with the kids.

How'd Daisy handle her new home during the holidays? Is Bear still showing her the ropes? Is she gaining confidence around the place? Will she be getting spayed or do you plan to breed? How much older than Bear is she? It's interesting she'd let him teach her, if he's younger. Since this is a working breed that's still close to it's roots, it'll be a journey as we watch her integrate into your place.

Things have been wonderful, turned out Daisy's kbirthday is Dec 10 and Bears is DeC 1 st. So she is younger by 9 days. Figured out she doesn't like fireworks or guns. So desensitization is nessasary.
We hope to get one litter of puppies. I would like to keep on and already have a list started for homes.
They both are doing great at the Job we need them for. As well they are amazing family companions. So good with the grand kids. And all the stray dogs no longer chase my ponies!

Happy belated birthdays, Bear and Daisy! Good to know that they are turning in what they're bred for, loving family working dogs. :-)

Now, we only have to wait for the one month update pictures.

It's been a bit of an adjustment for her to become an outdoor doggie. She loves it but her system is struggling to adjust to the weather. She blew her coat and is starting to get the new one in. She looks pretty scraggly right now. She has gained about 7 lbs but looking at her it's had to see it. Good news is she is building muscle, they play a lot. So good to see them happy!

Look at those sweetly smiling faces!! One with a big old goofy grin. One with what looks like an "I know it's not dignified....but it was SO MUCH FUN!" type of self-conscious grin.

If she's blowing coat, keep a close eye on her. With the recent boobie issue and belly bloat she may be coming into season. I didn't realize earlier in this thread that she hadn't yet reached her 1st birthday or I might have mentioned it then. Sure don't want pups before she's had a bit more time to mature. (Though they would be awful cute. ;-). )

Actually she was in heat in November around Thanksgiving.  I think it's from going from being an indoor to outdoor in cooler weather. . Thankfully it's stopped for the most part, and she's getting her new undercoat in!!
