Well, Ryan Benjamin Wolcott arrived this morning at 8:11 am. He was 4 lbs. 9 oz, and 17" long. Not much baby fat, but long arms and legs and THANKS TO ALL MY FRIENDS HERE FOR THEIR PRAYERS....he is doing just fine!!
Again, I can't thank you enough for the prayers for his safety. Mom and baby doing fine, and my son Benjamin is "over the moon" !!

Yes, with all the plane flights delayed, and planes moved away from the east coast or put in hangers, that's NOT surprising!

Hope it's on time and not lost in the mail with the storm on the coast. Tracking still says Tuesday, but still hasn't been scanned again since leaving our state hub.

I thought today was a government holiday, as it's Columbus day, but tracking says it was delivered to your front door today. I sure hope it's there for you. [About noonish today, according to tracking.]

My twins were a little heavier than you when they were born at 36 weeks. They've grown into two beautiful people. I wish the same for you.

Back up to 4 lbs 6 ozs, as he lost a little weight, which was expected. But he's eating well, and had his first visit with the Pediatrician, who said he's doing just fine.
I haven't seen him this week, as I got sick on Monday. Guess this crazy school schedule finally caught up with me. Not as young as I used to be, and my body just needed a day off, I guess, since I haven't had a day off since the 10th of September going to class each weekend. So I was home yesterday and today trying to quit coughing and get rid of my fever. Don't want to infect the little guy, so I will hopefully see him in a few days when I'm better.
My twins weighed less than him, so I reminded Ben that he will still grow into a strapping young man, even though we're starting out small. Ben is over 6 feet along with his twin, in fact all my kids are over 6 feet, so he's got a lot of growing to do!!

I'm only 5'5", but their dad was 6'6", so the height comes from him, although I have some over 6 footers on my side too. Guess it's a combined height!
Yes, I'm anxious to see that little one too, but since he's so small, I'm not taking any chances with his health!

For those who might be offended easily, please forgive. But to me, this is just too precious! Totally natural, unassisted, and thought this was Ryan's outlook on the world that he just entered -- after all the drama of his birth!
Please ignore he's jaundiced and looks a bit yellow in the photo, but he's spending more time in the sun, and the jaundice is improving. Daddy Ben was feeding him breast milk, but from the bottle, so he can enjoy feeding him, too.
So, here is the new little one, with his first expression of the world he has just become a part of......

Yes, I am very pleased and over-the-moon with him, as I feel I'm looking at my last grandchild. But what a winner I think he will be.

If he's a really "busy" boy growing up, and your son exasperated, just show him this picture, and tell him he was born with it, and you knew from the start. ;D

Thanks everyone. We're really so pleased that this little one arrived safely, and thank you all again for your prayers.
And I think this picture will "live" a long time to explain things along the way. Personally, I hope I get to "use" it a bit to bring the point "home!"
My daughter started me on some antibiotics, so hoping I get to feeling a lot better soon. I have to take the "final" class test on Saturday afternoon -- and hoping my brain starts connecting so I can pass the test. Usually, I don't fear testing, as I "usually" don't have any problems, but I've been so sick, I can hardly think or even do simple math, and this test is loaded with lots of math with many formulas. The math part I can do, but right now, my brain can't seem to zero in on which formula goes with which problem. Hope it all comes together before Saturday afternoon! ;pray ;pray

Again, I thank you friends, for your prayers. I passed the test with a 92! Not my greatest grade, but it FEELS like my greatest grade as it's such a relief to have it over! Now on to the State exam, but I'm not scheduling that until I have time to rest and prepare.

Yeah! It's done, you passed and sounds like a pretty good grade for test taken with foggy, medicated cold head.

Yes, I'm so glad that part is over. I'm waiting until I feel better to even think about scheduling the state exam. I was sure worried during the test, and knew some answers were wrong, but just couldn't get my head around the right answer. So, I'm very happy that I did as well as I did -- I didn't think I had done quite so well. What a relief!!!
It's kind of weird the way they do it here in Florida. If you fail the class test, you have to wait 30 days to retake it to get the certificate for the state exam. And yet, if you fail the state exam, you can take it again the next day by just paying a fee. Stupid!

I was finally well enough to go visit little Ryan. He's up to 5 pounds now, but still tiny!! I gave them the baby quilt that Chanda made, and they just LOVED it!!!!!
I was so happy to have the quilt for Chase! You could tell he was so pleased to be included in getting a gift, too! He also LOVED the quilt, and loved all the special fabrics in it -- and of course, he just loved the color palette!
Chanda, thank you so much for making this a VERY special gift day for everyone!

Thank you for the update that included a picture Diane. My twins had so much hair, it always surprises me when I see other babies without it. :))
It's good to see that his jaundice has cleared up, I know that can be a bit frightening. I like his stars pillow and anchors blanket. Do you think they'll represent an adventurous, dreamy spirit that always returns to it's grounded roots? (Mystic in me making itself known!) It also looks like he's filling out a bit. His fingers and arms don't look so "spare."
Perhaps I missed it somewhere, but what is the class and certification you are taking? It's interesting for me to know the details of folks I meet and know. Rounds out who they are.

Sorry I've been quiet but in Texas taking care of Katy after her surgery on Tuesday. I'll catch everyone up when I get home, and from all the posts I see, I've got a lot to catch up on!!!

Got home late last night and sorry to have to leave my daughter and those wonderful grandchildren. But Katy's husband is there and basically works from home, so he'll be there while she recuperates.
It was an involved surgery (several hours) for her herniated disk which was the L1 just above the sacrum, and involved the sacrum, the L1 vertebrate and several nerves. This was a more involved surgery, as to get to the site, they had to go through the abdomen to get to the spine. They call it an Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF), where they removed the herniated disk by entering the pelvis from the front, moving everything aside to get to the spine, then removing the disk, placing a spacer with a bone graft inside. The idea is for the body to fuse to this bone graft which takes 6-12 months. She came through the surgery very well, and when she went walking on day 1 the back pain she had been suffering with was gone. So, now it's just the pain from the surgery.
She won't be allowed to resume her surgical practice for at least 3 months, as they want her back to fuse, so no "forward tipping" like leaning over a patient undergoing surgery. She has quite a bit of vacation time so she is taking 2 months off before going back, which will give her some excellent time with her kids which she is very excited about.
This will be especially nice as they will be deploying her back to the war in July. So, this will give her the time with her kids that she will lose during the summer.
I'm glad to be back, as I so MISSED THIS GROUP OF FRIENDS, but my days were busy with her recuperation and the grandkids going to school and back, etc.
NOW TO TRY AND CATCH UP!!!!!
