Title: Help?
Post by: Holly on August 09, 2016, 11:28:50 AM
Can anyone help me find Appaloosa breeders from 2003-2007?
And from 2009-2011
I am guessing ones located in central southern Texas.
I am still waiting on the previous owners to help me But havent heard anything yet.  I would like to start searching appy breeders websites to see if I could possibly match my stallion to foal photos, by his spots, if thats even possible....

Start with Little America, they've been around for quite some time.  Tony raises quite a few appies, especially small ones, so if under 34", they'd be a good place to start.
Diane might have some ideas, since she likes spots.

Thank you Chanda!
I did look at a few appy websites and found a few There is a website for a 4k miniature horses and an appy names black apache that could ( i say that very loosely) possibly be him, I havent learned enough yet to know if appy spots change at all....I assume he was born darker, sense he is a near leopard.

I really don't know appies well.   But, have seen foal pictures of near solid babies, then progressive pictures as they age showing more and more spots.   Seems they can change just about yearly and some even seasonally, at least for awhile.
I don't know if the registry would help or not, if the horse you suspect might be yours has DNA on File, I don't know if the registry would do a comparison for you or not.  You'll probably just have to wait for the last owner to help.

I was the President of IMAPC -- the International Miniature Appaloosa and Pintaloosa Club for many years.  I have a list of all the Appaloosa breeders for many years, but unfortunately, many of them are out of the business and don't have websites any more.  Do you know where they were bred? Or anything about them?  Perhaps I could start looking for you.

Diane, thank you so much! I am still waiting on contact from previous owner. I can only assume central south but honestly I could be wrong. The last owner is located in East Texas. I am trying to get in touch with her... Once I have more information I will share right now I am just browseing websites to see if I can match him to foal pics by spots, talk about a long shot!

And I take it they bought them without papers?

I am relying on a friend, I still havent been able to talk to the previous owner myself... I am hoping she can just call or message me herself so I can at least start tracking it down.
I Know my friend didnt ask for papers thats not to say the previous owner didnt have them... Or maybe she didnt get them from the breeder going out of business. I really dont know... But if I can find an appy breeder that went out of business 3-5 yrs ago maybe I can track down who these minis are. I do know they were bred from different breeders. Or so Ive been told

Ok new information is that a woman in coldspring Texas bred and showed minis. Her husband died and she sold 3 minis to a woman named Wilma that my friend got them from.
So if that woman is still alive maybe I can find out who they are. Wilma is going to try to get me that woman's name

I talked to Tony from lil America and he didn't recognize my stallion but he is looking into it for me. He is such a nice guy. Hopefully with some blessing we will track it down. I've got several mini horse breeder friends on FB helping too. I am hopeful!

I'm glad Tony's trying to help.  I couldn't find anything to help, but still looking. I'm glad Tony's involved.
