Ok I noticed a week ago my only LaMancha doe goat who lives with 3 wethers, I've had them all about 6 years. Anyway she has huge utters :O what would cause this and can a wether grow a new testical Hahahaha! ;) no but really why would this happen?
-
I don't have goats, but I'm pretty sure I've read about does bagging up without being bred. There's a name for, but I don't recall what that might be.
Hopefully someone that knows more will post.
-
I've not had it happen when I had goats, but heck -- they can't grow a NEW testicle, but if they were a crypt with one left inside and not removed when neutering, then it would certainly be possible! LOL

Hey! I have lamancha goats and there is a term for that Precocios lactation, it can happen in strong dairy milk breeds such as lamancha :) I wouldn't worry too much! I'm more worried that my 6 month old lamancha doe is pregnant already :s I just bought this doe and she was kept with a full grown stud buck. The lady said they don't go into heat until august but I've been reading up and it says they can in fact go into heat earlier and I've been steadily watch her belly get rounder and rounder :s all her goat mates that I feed the equal amount to are nice and thin :s

Well, keep us posted!
-
That's wonderful! You get free milk!!
Please keep us posted on your little doe
-
Yeah it'd be super weird for her to be pregnant hahaha she's still bagged but I'm not holding my breathe lol
-
Remember when I said I had a sneaky suspicion my 7 month old goat was pregnant..... well SURPRISE this morning my 5 year old daughter found this adorable female kid that she has since named Oreo lol

Kids are so cute. Congrats!
-
very cute :)
-
Oh how cute!!! And how thoughtful to wrap mom's horns!
-
I had to wrap mom and dad's horns last week because, not on purpose, but they head but lightly all the time and gave one of the minis a slice a day then I was nervous for my kids playing with them. The tennis ball and duct tape seems to be working great and the baby Oreo doesn't have any horn buttons at all ( her grandma has the no horn gene) so I won't have to worry about that :)
-
So sweet!! Theres 2 correct? Super cute!!
-
Thanks:) nope just one. She would have been only 2 months old at her previous owners when she got pregnant and lots of first timers even if they aren't that young only have one... silly owner before thought just because she was little she would be fine with her bucks outside:s

Hi, goatie, goat goat people!! *wave, wave*
What's up here on the goat thread? Suebe, did your Lamancha's udder ever go down or did you try to milk her? Lknight, do you have an update on Oreo?
I like goats, but haven't gotten our place set up enough yet to have one "follow me home" so I could keep it. LOL
-
When you do, you'll just love them! They are REAL characters!! And the "kids" are so much fun!!

I've been attending (not quite regularly) the new Sandhills Small Ruminant Association's monthly meetings. They're celebrating the one year anniversary of the group in January. One thing I plan on is being there each month in 2017. I really, really REALLY want a couple of milk does. Goat milk soap is the very best for my skin issues that the lupus causes me. As much as I use, it'll be cheaper to support a doe than pay $3-5 for each bar, when I go through 2 a week.
How are the goat babies doing? Did they stay with you, or go on to new homes? Any kids expected this year?
-
It's amazing how many good things goat's milk is good for! I had milking Nubians for years -- especially when my kids were each drinking a gallon of milk every day!
And I just LOVE those little "kids" !!
