Got this lot for £30 on a local site. They have been power washed and disinfected, will be put into a disinfected stable and all washed again in prep for the bedding. NOT ENOUGH TIME AHHHHHH

I am super Jelly over your stall matts! I would LOVE to add matts to my barn at some point!
-
There is a large "anti-stable mat" movement here at the moment. People tend to be trying deep beds more, so getting ride of mats. Obviously deep beds are totally unsuitable to foal on so more mats for me! Just hope there is no lingering nasties on them. Not sure when i should start to bring in, is it better to have routine or let her come in when she wants? But saying that, she never wants to. Shes very anti-human this mare lol
-
I never tried mats, but what do you put on top of them? Do you bed them with a covering?
-
I generally bed on top with about 2 bales but with a large horse about 4 bales is better. It's pretty much just as a normal stable but it's less hard on their legs. Personally I wish I had your sand bottom method!!
-
Mats down. Just one bale on them to use if I need them in but generally they are out.
Not sure when I should start to bring her in?! Another few weeks at least I hope.

Lucky you with all those mats and at a bargain price, too.
I think each one of mine cost what your lot cost.
-
Rocklone how many days is she? I like to bring mine in at night at day 300. Course Grace has been in at night a while, by her own choice!
I like the look of your stall!

What a bargain! I am old fashioned and after having tried more or less everything I still prefer a deep straw bed for foaling as it is softer for the mares with big bellies to lay down. Let us know how you get on.
I agree 300 days is good too but maybe start bring her in now at dinner time for an hour or so to get her used to it.

I'm having her in a bare paddock in the day and at grass at night. She really is large and solid crest I'm not happy about.
-
Be careful if she is getting cresty, you might need to limit her time on grass as it is so rich this time of year.
-
Yes she's getting it cut in half as is the others but Goldie has a week of it left to cover I just will have her in at night instead.
