Title: Age of horse by teeth
Post by: Holly on February 14, 2019, 06:50:15 PM
Anyone fluent in aging horses by teeth?
I've tried to figure it out but still trying to understand.

Any guesses on how old this horse is?

By no means fluent, but my guess is 10ish.
I saved the pic, and will send it to my equine dentist and see what she thinks.

I shared the pic with my equine dentist, and it's hard to tell by just one picture, but she said 9-11, maybe as much as 13 years.   My best guess before her assessment was 10 years old.

My first initial thought was 10-12, and thats before i saw chandaa post. So i think thereabouts would be right! However i have found minis age a little slower in the tooth, so with that age line on the actual tooth it could be as much as 13 if that makes sense?

This mare is my 13.2 hh Welsh pony mare, so not sure if that makes a difference?

It does, and the 11ish age would be about right for that.
