You sound like my son, Tommy. When he bought his house on the water a few years ago, it had concrete floors, and of course, he laid tile. He designed a beautiful pattern which he and Ben started putting down. About 4 days into it he swore he'd never do that pattern for anyone, EVER as it took so long to lay and was so intricate. And he's kept his word -- never did it again. It's a big house, and although it looks fabulous (like your quilt), every time someone compliments him on the pattern, saying they've never seen one like it before, he tells them "and you'll never see one again like it, because I'll never lay it again!"
